3rd Plenary Meeting of the UGT Brasil National Executive Board
The 3rd Plenary Meeting of the National Executive Board of the UGT was held at the offices of the Electrical Workers Union of São Paulo, on June 5 and 6th.
On the first day of the meeting, the debate focused on the issues of the Guaranteed Fund for Time of Service (FGTS), on the Social Security Factor and Sub-Contracting. They also discussed ratification of ILO Convention 151 about the right to unionization and labor relations in public services and of ILO Convention 158 concerning the termination of labor relations by an employer. The reduction of the work week as a factor in the generation of employment, was also analyzed.
The second day of the plenary was marked by discussion of proposed Constitutional Amendment 438/2001, which calls for the confiscation of lands where labor in conditions equivalent to slavery are found; Democratization of professional education in the "S System"; UGT participation in the World Social Forum and other issues.
